How to Blog

bloggingThanks a million for attending my Blogging presentations! I enjoy teaching how to blog enormously, and I hope you get some valuable resources and info out of any or all of the sessions.

Because workshops are a good start, but there’s not enough time to answer all the questions or provide all the important info about blogging out there, I created this page with additional resources for you. Feel free to come back to it as often as you’d like, I will be adding links and resources to it as I find them.

First and foremost, as promised, here are the decks for you to download:

Blogging Platforms

Since some of you wanted to learn more in depth about the many different blogging platforms, this is the online guide I mentioned that will give you a comprehensive comparison of paid and free platforms. Also, here’s the link to an article that details the various costs of running a blog, from $0 if you use all free services and platforms, to hundreds of dollars for blogs that are revenue-producing businesses. As a reminder, I use WordPress (the self-hosted version, which I host on Bluehost.com). If you want to go this route, this means purchasing your own domain name and having a paid hosting account. You can check for domain availability with this handy gadget below. And if you use my link for Bluehost your domain is free and you also get a discount on hosting.

Content Creation

First, a note (well, a podcast) on writer’s block:

Here are some SEO Basics articles and here’s a free SEO course for beginners in case you are interested in learning more.

Jon Morrow, expert blogger, offers a Headline Hacks pdf document for free to get you started. Also, this is the Headline Analyzer that I use; and this the page where I explain the estimated reading time for my posts, in it you will find the link to the Read-O-Meter site that I use to help me with the calculation.

Please let me know what other resources you’d like to see in here or what questions you’d like me to answer and I’ll be happy to do so!

Lastly, I hope you take a look around the EntreGurus blogHere are some of the most popular posts (remember, you can read any of them in under 5 minutes):
